When I Change One Text, It Changes Everything!

Microsoft Word often copies invisible code from one document to another, if they exist in the original document.  If you are trying to change a font type to another font name and all your text boxes change along with it, you can do the following to prevent it from happening or eliminate this issue.

Make sure your do not COPY and PASTE from one Word doc to another. If you need to copy and paste, Do a PASTE SPECIAL, not just a paste. Then choose Unformatted Text and your information will be pasted inside the template text box with no invisible coding that could through things off.

You can also try and recreate the existing text box that is causing issues. Recreating a text box is simple and can often save you time and frustration. Sometimes, text boxes can get corrupted in Word documents but a simple remedy is to just recreate the text box and start fresh.
If you do not know how to create a text box, view our online video tutorial library on how to do this.

General Funeral Printing Guidelines

After you have successfully customized your funeral program, you are now ready to print. To get the best result in printing your program, keep note or follow the guidelines below which will assist you in the preparation of printing your file:

1. To get the best results, print your funeral program on 32 lb. copy paper or 65 lb. cover stock paper. You can print it on regular weight paper but the heavier stock paper gives it durabilitiy and an overall nicer presentation.  The heavier than average paper weight will also hold up the program better than a standard copier paper. You can essentially use any type of paper you'd like or your budget allows. Just make sure it is a white paper and do not use any colored paper as it will not show the colors within the graphic artwork as brightly. You can use the color paper for our templates that do not have a background image.

2. If you have a "borderless" printer, be sure to set your color printer to “borderless ” printing. This option will vary from printer to printer depending on your manufacturer. if you do not have this feature on your printer– when you print the program or view it in PRINT PREVIEW, there will be a 1/8″ white border around the perimeter of the program page(s). You can trim this off or leave it on. The programs still look great with or without a white border.

3. Make sure you have enough color cartridge inks in your printer before you start printing. There’s nothing more frustrating and time consuming when you run out of ink when your in the middle of printing hundreds of programs!

4. If your using an inkjet printer and do not have a printer that prints duplex (or front and back at the same time), make sure you wait until the program is completely dry before folding or printing on the other side.

5. If your even shorter on time or don’t have a color printer, consider taking your program to an express local printing service. Before you take the file down, check to see what type of file format they can read. For example, do they need the program as a PDF file or can you take down the WORD or Publisher file?

Contact The Funeral Program Site if you would like us to provide the printing services for your program. Please note that additional shipping charges will apply with the cost per copies.

6. Each printer is different. Make sure you do a print preview in your program before printing! If it looks fine, then print a draft to make sure you have a hardcopy take with you to the service bureau. If you encounter any problems with printing, please contact us immediately. We can help you make sure your print settings are correct but you will also need to be familiar with your own printer. You may need to adjust settings accordingly for your specific printer type.
