What is the best way to produce the best looking funeral memorial program template?

We’re glad you asked! Here are some notes to consider to get the best production of your funeral program:

  1. Print your funeral program on at least 32 lb. white paper or a 65 lb. cover stock paper. You can print it on regular weight paper but the heavier stock paper gives it durabilitiy and an overall nicer presentation. The duplex (front and back) printing is also better when printing on a heavier paper because it holds the colors without bleeding through. Do not use colored paper or it will interfere with the full color layout of the template. You can also use glossy or matte finish, whichever you prefer– either works well.

  2. Follow the procedure on the video and Help Guide when inserting photos within your frame. Do not cut and paste or you may experience problems printing. To ensure your photo is properly proportioned, use the dimensions for your photo inside the frame. Then import the photo into the template and size accordingly. Watch our video on how to insert an oval frame into your template.

  3. To ensure your photo is properly proportioned, crop the photo in a photo editing software so it is proportioned and not distorted after importing into the frame. If you need assistance, contact us and we can help you size your photo accordingly.

  4. If you want to produce the "borderless" full bleed presentation, you need to have a printer that prints at least 8.5 x 11 borderless. Most photo printers have this option. Set your color printer to “borderless ” printing. The procedure for this option will vary from printer to printer depending on your manufacturer. It is usually set within the print preferences menu, under advanced features.

  5. If you do not have this feature in your printer, you will have a 1/8″ white border around the perimeter of the page. You can trim this off, if you’d like or leave it as is since our designs work well with or without a border. If you do not have a borderless printer, set the “scale to fit paper size” option in the Print display so any part of the design does not get cut off. See our exclusive Microsoft Help Guide for further tips on borderless printing. Our guide is provided for you with each purchase.

  6. Make sure you have enough color cartridge inks in your printer before you start printing. There’s nothing more frustrating than to run out of ink when your in the middle of printing hundreds of programs! See our article on how to save ink when printing.

  7. If your using an inkjet printer, make sure you wait until the program is completely dry before folding or printing on the other side.

  8. If your even shorter on time or don’t have a color printer, consider taking your program to an express local printing service. They may charge you more but they will fold your programs and will print them on a color laser printer. You will need to create a PDF file of your WORD template prior to bringing it to the local express printer. Some printers may take your WORD document, but it is best to check with them first. If you decide to take your program to a service bureau for printing, make sure you ask what format the program file needs to be in. Express Service Bureaus usually prefer files in a PDF format.
