Love Between Husband and Wife

My lover spoke and said to me, "Arise, my darling, my beautiful one, and come with me. See! The winter is past; the rains are over and gone. Flowers appear on the earth; the season of singing has come, the cooing of doves is heard in our land. The fig tree forms its early fruit; the blossoming vines spread their fragrance. Arise, come, my darling;
my beautiful one, come with me." (Song of Solomon 2:10-13)

Place me like a seal over your heart, like a seal on your arm; for love is as strong as death, its jealousy unyielding as the grave. It burns like blazing fire, like a mighty flame. Many waters cannot quench love; rivers cannot wash it away. If one were to give all the wealth of his house for love, it would be utterly scorned. (Song of Solomon 8:6-7)

I belong to my lover, and his desire is for me. Come, my lover, let us go to the countryside, let us spend the night in the villages. Let us go early to the vineyards to see if the vines have budded, if their blossoms have opened, and if the pomegranates are in bloom there I will give you my love. (Song of Solomon 7:10-12)

Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their work: If one falls down, his friend can help him up. But pity the man who falls and has no one to help him up! Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm. But how can one keep warm alone? Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.  (Ecclesiastes 4:9-12)

What Is Love?

Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. (Romans 12:9)

And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love. (1 Corinthians 13:13)

We love because he first loved us. (1 John 4;19)

Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends. (John 15:13)

Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins. (1 Peter 4:8)

Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. (Ephesians 4:2)

This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers.  If anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in need but has no pity on him, how can the love of God be in him?  Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth. (1 John 3:16-18)

Loving Others

A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another. (John 13:34-35)

This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us. (1 John 4:10-12)

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.  It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.  Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. (1 Corinthians 13:4-7)

God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them. (Hebrews 6:10 NIV)

God's Love

The Lord appeared to us in the past, sayig: "I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with loving-kindness" (Jeremiah 31:3 NIV)

Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be moved, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my convenant of peace be removed. (Isaiah 54:10 NIV)

My faithful love will be with him..I will maintain my love to him forever, and my convenant with him will never fail...I will not take my love from him, not will I ever betray my faithfulness. (Psalm 89:24, 28, 33 NIV)

God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5:8 NIV)

God showed how much he loved us by sending His only Son into this wicked world to bring to us eternal life through His death. In this act we see what real love is: it is not our love for God, but His love for us when He sent His Son to satisfy God's anger against our sins. (1 John 4:9, 10 TLB)

As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you (John 15:9 NIV)

If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in him and he in God. And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in him. (1 John 4:15, 16 NIV)

For the Father Himself loves you dearly because you love me and believe that I came from the Father. (John 16:27 TLB)

How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! (1 John 3:1 NIV)
